PIM: Codam approves more than R$5 billion in projects in 2023

Manaus (AM) – In 2023, the Amazonas Development Council (Codam), coordinated by the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti), approved more than R$5 billion in projects for the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM), with more than 8 thousand new jobs projected for the Free Zone, representing the highest number in the last ten years.

According to the head of Sedecti, Serafim Corrêa, in order to reach the numbers and attract new investors to boost the state’s economy, Sedecti made more than 200 contacts with companies, these investors being in the electronics industry, IT goods and two wheels.

“Governor Wilson Lima’s determination is that we can improve the business environment in Amazonas. The environment has already improved a lot, but there is still a long way to go, we have a lot to do. What is expected is that, with the reduction of bureaucracy and the increase in speed in solutions, we can stimulate the economy as a whole”,

highlights Serafim Corrêa.

According to Serafim, to facilitate the investment process, the Invista no Amazonas website was created as a crucial platform to provide relevant information focused on investors from different countries. In addition to the website, investors have access to the Tax Incentives Guide, which offers a detailed overview of state and federal tax advantages.

The State of Amazonas plays an active role in the composition of the Regional Amazon Development Plan (PRDA) for the period from 2020 to 2023. Sedecti sent 40 projects covering various areas, such as Infrastructure, Productive Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Tourism and Environment.

All projects presented were approved by the Amazon Development Superintendence (Sudam), Ministry of Regional Development (MDR) and Ministry of Economy. Projects include the recovery and paving of Highway BR-319; paving and recovery of BR-307; recovery and paving of the ZF-7 Road; Agroindustrial District of Rio Preto da Eva – Darpe; Manacapuru and Iranduba Regional Development District; Ecological Economic Zoning of the State of Amazonas; implementation of the Naval, Mineral and Logistics Complex of the State of Amazonas (Polo Naval do Amazonas); recovery and maintenance of state highways and branches on BR-319 and others.

In 2023, the Government of Amazonas expanded production chains and overcame regional inequalities with the advancement of the State Center for Local Productive Arrangements of the State of Amazonas (NE-APL/AM), with a cycle of meetings and workshops. Furthermore, the State advanced and updated the activities of the State Commission for Ecological-Economic Zoning (ZEE).

“One of the activities that advanced was the Curauá Fiber Pilot Project, which will be implemented in the community of Novo Remanso, in the municipality of Itacoatiara, resources contributed by the private sector (Tutiplast) and with support from the State Secretariat for Rural Production (Sepror ), Institute for Sustainable Agricultural and Forestry Development of the State of Amazonas (Idam) and Amazon Biotechnology Center (CBA)”,

Continuing projects

In 2023, in the area of ​​Science, Technology and Innovation (CT&I), the Government of Amazonas, through Sedecti, supported several projects such as the Technological Scientific Park (PCT), State Bioeconomy Plan and the formation of Technical Groups for topics specific issues, such as Rubber, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Technology and Innovation.

“This year, strategic partnerships were established, such as the creation of an exclusive line of credit for startups in collaboration with the Amazonas State Development Agency (Afeam). Sedecti was also part of the Management Committee of the Technological Innovation Support Program (Tecnova) and the National Support Program for the Generation of Innovative Enterprises (Centelha)”,

Multi-Year Plan 2024-2027

In 2023, the Government of Amazonas, through Sedecti, delivered the 2024-2027 Multi-Year Plan (PPA) for evaluation and voting by members of the Amazonas Legislative Assembly (Aleam), when it was approved. The Multi-Year Plan is a government budget planning instrument, which establishes goals for the next four years. The Public Consultation (Participatory PPA) involved more than 5.3 thousand participations, prioritizing demands through an online platform.

“Sedecti is the secretariat that prepares the Multi-Year Plan, but it consolidates all requests coming from all areas of the State. It’s a long document, which I recommend everyone read,”

Seraphim pointed out.

In 2023, Sedecti produced the Statistical Yearbook and the 6th edition of Amazonas em Mapas, providing a comprehensive view of the municipalities.

“The Geoportal Amazonas em Mapas, in cooperation with Fundação Itaú, works as scientific support for decision-making. The review of the Administrative Political Division, signed with the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics of IBGE, seeks to update the territorial limits of the municipalities”,

declared the executive secretary of Planning, Sonia Janete Gomes.
