Pharmacy tests indicate Covid discharge after Carnival – 02/28/2023 – Panel SA

The number of pharmacy tests with a positive Covid result rose 19% in the post-carnival week, according to a survey by Abrafarma (pharmaceutical retail association).
Almost 5,800 positive tests were recorded in the period from February 20 to 26, compared to about 4,800 in the previous week. Compared to the beginning of the month, pharmacies had an accumulated increase of 125% in coronavirus diagnoses.
For the CEO of Abrafarma, Sergio Mena Barreto, the numbers are still far from the 150,000 positive tests recorded in December, but the weekly climb is cause for concern.
Despite the high, the percentage of cases over the total attendance remains below 20% —currently at 16%.
