Petrobras announced, at the end of the morning of this Wednesday (19), that it will reduce the price of natural gas sold to distributors by 7.1% per cubic meter (R$/m²) as of August 1st. The reduction, however, does not include LPG cooking gas.
According to the state-owned company, the percentage reduction is calculated in relation to that practiced in the May-June-July quarter, considering the variation in the value of fuel and transport by pipelines. “Contracts with distributors provide for quarterly updates of the price portion related to the gas molecule and link this variation to fluctuations in Brent oil and the exchange rate”, he says.
As a result, in the quarter in question, oil fell by 3.8% and the exchange rate appreciated by 4.8%. With this update, the price of natural gas sold by Petrobras to distributors will accumulate a reduction of approximately 25% in the year, says Petrobras.
The company points out that the final price of natural gas to the consumer depends on each distributor, margins and taxes.
