Price changes do not affect the price of gas cylinders. Petrobras reduces the price of natural gas Starting this Wednesday (1st), Petrobras reduces the price of natural gas to distributors. The reduction will be, on average, 11.1% in R$/m³ and is valid for gas transported and distributed through pipelines. Natural gas is the raw material for CNG, piped cooking gas and is a source of energy for various industry sectors. The reduction does not refer, however, to the price of the gas cylinder, which has LPG as a reference value. The company explains that contracts with distributors are updated quarterly based on changes in oil prices and the dollar. In this sense, in the quarter between November and January, oil fell by 11.9%, while the dollar had a slight devaluation of 0.2%, which explains the fall in the value of natural gas. “Petrobras points out that the final price of natural gas to the consumer is not determined only by the company’s selling price, but also by the supply portfolio of each distributor, as well as by its margins (and, in the case of CNG, the service stations resale) and by federal and state taxes”, highlights the state company, in a note.
