Petrobras announced, at the end of the morning of this Thursday (15), that it will reduce the price of gasoline to distributors to R$ 2.66 per liter as of Friday (16).
The drop will be R$ 0.13 per liter and has as its main objectives “the maintenance of the company’s price competitiveness in relation to its customers’ main supply alternatives” and the “necessary market share for the optimization of refining assets in balance with the national and international markets”, said the state-owned company in a statement.
The announcement of the drop in the price of gasoline to distributors comes shortly after the price increase at the pumps with the change in the ICMS collection model, which defined a rate of R$ 1.22 per liter since the beginning of the month.
The new rate increased the rate charged until then, with an average readjustment of R$ 0.02 to R$ 0.30 per liter compared to previous levels.
The cut in prices also comes a month after Petrobras announced a new policy for fuel, ending the parity with foreign countries. At the time, the company informed that the readjustments would continue to be made without defined periodicity, “avoiding the pass-through to the internal prices of the conjunctural volatility of the international quotations and of the exchange rate.
The company also said that the new model would take into account Petrobras’ participation and the competitive price in each market and region, “the optimization of our refining assets and profitability in a sustainable way”.
