Petrobras reduces diesel price by R$0.27 for distributors

The average price of a liter of diesel will be reduced by R$0.27 for distributors from this Friday (8) according to an announcement made by Petrobras late this Thursday morning (7). As a result, the price at the pumps can be around R$5.92, depending on the station.

According to the oil company, the average selling price of diesel A to distributors will be around R$3.78 per liter.

“The adjustment is the result of the analysis of the fundamentals of the external and internal markets in light of Petrobras’ commercial strategy, implemented in May 2023 to replace the previous pricing policy, and which began to incorporate parameters that reflect the best refining and logistics conditions in Petrobras. Petrobras in its pricing”, said the state-owned company in a statement.

Petrobras reported that the estimated value for the pumps was calculated taking into account the ANP’s Fuel Price Survey for the week of November 26th to December 2nd, which indicated an average value of R$6.16 per liter.

“It is noteworthy, however, that the amount effectively charged to the final consumer at the station is also affected by other factors such as taxes, biofuel mix and distribution and resale profit margins”, explained Petrobras about the formulation of the price charged. in the pumps.

The state-owned company stated that the price of diesel for distributors has already been reduced by R$0.71 per liter since the beginning of the year, equivalent to 15.8%.

On the other hand, gasoline and LPG prices were not reduced in this Thursday’s announcement (7).

The president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, has been pressured by Minister Alexandre Silveira, of Mines and Energy (MME), to reduce the price of fuel and pass on to consumers the negative variation in oil prices on the international market.

However, Prates had been holding back the reduction, claiming that he did not need to immediately transfer the volatility of oil abroad. “The company reiterates that in setting its prices it seeks to avoid passing on the volatility of the international market and the exchange rate, while preserving a healthy competitive environment in terms of current legislation”, highlighted Petrobras.
