Pedro Miranda brings a song by Chico Buarque to the universe of choro and samba

Single ‘Futuros lovers’ comes out tomorrow and is the fourth sample of the artist’s fifth solo album, ‘Atlântica Senhora’. ♪ About ten years ago, Pedro Miranda congratulated Chico Buarque on the artist’s birthday through a video posted on a social network. In the video, playing the guitar for the first time in public, Miranda sang Futuros lovers, a song presented by Chico 30 years ago on the album Paratodos (1993). Later, the song entered the script for the singer’s lives during the pandemic and for Miranda’s subsequent outdoor performances at Parque da Cidade, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Although the vast majority of Chico Buarque’s hits were released between the 1960s and 1980s, the exceptional beauty of Futuros lovers made the song become a standard in the composer’s songbook, spanning generations over these 30 years. It is with all this symbolism that Futuros lovers figure in the almost entirely authorial repertoire of Pedro Miranda’s fifth solo album, Atlântica Senhora, expected to be released at the end of this year, 2023, after a series of singles extracted from the album. The single in which Miranda brings Futuros lovers into the universe of choro and samba – with guitar, arrangement and musical production by Luís Filipe de Lima – arrives tomorrow, July 4th, on music apps via the Biscoito Fino label. In the chronology of singles from the album Atlântica Senhora, published since February, Futuros lovers follows the recordings of the original songs Capivara do Brasil (march composed by Miranda with Chacal), Atlântica Senhora (partnership between Pedro Miranda and Cristovão Bastos) and Era Marte? (composition by the artist with Marcos Sacramento). Mixed by Moreno Veloso, the recording of Futuros lovers has the organic and digital touch of percussionist Marcos Suzano on HandSonic (drums, cuíca and effects), pandeiro, ganzá and ATV e-frame (effects, cymbals and bass), in addition to Alberto Continentino, Kiko Horta’s accordion and Luís Barcelos’ mandolin.
