Paul McCartney fans prepare for the concert season in Brazil

Music icon, Paul McCartney announced that he will return to Brazil with his new tour, Got Back, between November and December this year. The former member of the Beatles confirmed that he will visit five Brazilian cities: Brasília (30/11), Belo Horizonte (3/12), São Paulo (7, 9 and 10/12), Curitiba (13/12) and Rio de January (16/12). In the capital, the presentation will be held at the BRB Mané Garrincha Arena.

Fans are anxiously awaiting the moment, like Bahian publicist Maurício Sampaio, who guaranteed his presence at the Brasília show. It will be the first time he will see Paul McCartney live. “My story with the Beatles began when I was a teenager, influenced by a group of friends. And now, at 56 years old, I will go to the show with my wife Cyra and my children, Maria Eduarda and João Vítor. We all have high expectations, very excited and happy,” he says.

A fan of the hits Yesterday and Let it Be, Maurício highlights that, if he could ask for just one song from his idol, it would be Ebony and Ivory. “Paul recorded this one with Stevie Wonder in 1982, and it had a big impact on me”, he reveals. “The Beatles’ songs always bring together our family’s moments of unity”, he adds.

Beatlemania from father to son

Professor Daniel Machado, 43 years old, had his first contact with the Beatles through his father, Paulo, who was already in love with the British group and recorded K7 tapes with songs for his 8-year-old son to listen to. “I really believe in this timeless charm of the Beatles and Paul. My father’s Beatlemania passed on to me, and I passed it on to my son Cauã, who is 5 years old, and, every day, before going to sleep, he listens to Michelle. My wish is that this always lives among us”, he shares.

With a collection of almost 200 records, which include rare recordings, as well as a Beatles “themed corner” at home, full of pictures and photos, Daniel remembers going with his father to the Paul McCartney concert in Brasília, in 2014. The two also fulfilled their dream of visiting Liverpool to discover the land of idols.

This year, he will face a real marathon to enjoy his favorite artist to the fullest. “I will be at the shows in Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, in addition to two presentations in São Paulo. In the capital, I’m going to watch Paul’s show with my father, my mother, my stepfather, a cousin and several friends,” he says.

“This tour will be very special, and I believe it will be the last for Paul, who is already 81 years old and continues to vibrate on stage. I’ve seen the setlists from other countries and I’m excited, because the best songs from his and the Beatles’ solo careers were chosen,” he comments.

A fan of the final sequence of the Abbey Road album, Daniel highlights that the repertoire is memorable. “The last song is The End, which should also be Paul’s choice to end the Got Back Tour shows. This song has a very beautiful message that deserves to be remembered in difficult times: ‘The love you receive is equal to the love you give’”, he concludes.

Family emotion

Nelson Albuquerque, 48 years old, also met and fell in love with the Beatles when he was just a 13-year-old boy, in Belém do Pará.

“My relationship with Paul, John, George and Ringo began in 1989. I remember talking to my father about some songs, like Hey Jude and Yesterday, and, after that conversation, I took a bus, went downtown and bought my first record from the band, a vinyl of Past Masters, an album released in 1988. I arrived at my house, listened to everything, from start to finish, and it was love at first sight. I also passed on this passion to my children, who were rocked and fell asleep listening to so many beautiful songs by Paul and company”, he says.

The family, who lives in Campo Grande (MS) and will travel to Brasília to meet the Beatle, usually gathers around the guitar to sing Paul’s songs at home. And one that is always present is Here, There and Everywhere, a ballad that appears on the 1966 album Revolver. “It’s a magnificent composition, it talks about love, and we listen to it very often”, he points out.

Finally, he reveals that expectations for the show are the best possible. “We are looking forward to seeing Paul singing such memorable songs live for us. I fulfilled my dream of attending one of his performances, in Porto Alegre, with my wife Gecele, and now I’m going to take my children, Cecília and Lucas, to live this special experience”, says Nelson. “We really want to see the performance of I’ve Got a Feeling, as Paul sang this song in the last shows in a virtual duet with John, and this moment promises to be exciting.”

Tickets for the show in Brasília can be purchased on the Eventim website or at the Eventim store, located in Brasília Shopping.

The Got Back tour is organized by Bonus Track, in partnership with 30E, and will be presented in Brazil by Banco BRB.
