The formal indictment was made in January. “Halyna was the light in their lives,” Gloria Allred, a lawyer for Halyna’s parents and sister, told a news conference. According to her, the process is intended to “find the truth and hold those involved accountable”. “The loss of my sister at least personally for me was a terrible experience and is one of the biggest losses of my life,” Halyna’s younger sister, Svetlana Zemko, said in a video call. “And even more devastating was seeing the complete suffering of our parents and how their health so acutely deteriorated.” In October 2022, Halyna’s widower, Matthew Hutchins, settled with the film’s production. According to the statement at the time, he became an executive producer of the film and should receive part of the profits. The film’s first assistant director, Dave Halls, the person who handed Baldwin the gun, has agreed to plead guilty to negligent use of a lethal weapon. His hearing is set for March 8. The film’s script supervisor Mamie Mitchell, who is also represented by Allred, filed a civil lawsuit in November 2021 accusing Baldwin of “playing Russian roulette” by pointing a Colt .45 handgun at Hutchins. In November 2022, Baldwin filed a lawsuit over the fatal shooting, alleging negligence by several members of the film’s crew. The cross-claim followed the lawsuit filed by Mitchell. Gunsmith Gutierrez-Reed also filed a lawsuit early last year against the gun’s supplier.
