Pacheco predicts the enactment of the tax reform by the end of the year and denies the intention of ‘slicing’ the text

Text already approved by the Chamber goes to the Senate CCJ and, later, to the plenary; Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM) will be the rapporteur. If senators make significant changes, reform goes back to the House floor. Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) said this Tuesday (11) that the tax reform could be approved and enacted in the second half of this year. “It is the necessary time for the maturation of all points of the reform and for the exhaustion of the Senate’s certainty in relation to the pertinence of these points. I estimate that we can do this work over two months and have the appreciation during the second half”, he said . The reform was approved by the House last Friday (7), with some exceptions for tax collection and a last minute amendment, which allows the creation of a tax by the states. As of August, the text will be analyzed by the Senate. If it is approved without significant changes – or only with the removal of excerpts, for example –, the text can go straight to enactment. If there are major changes, however, the PEC is returned for a new analysis by the Chamber.
