Even in the dim light, however, it does not lose its grace and colors from before. “Noitada” mixes the straight beats of house music and other global electronic genres with the malemolence of the Bahian suingueira, the mandelão funk from São Paulo, the 150 carioca, the tecnobrega from Pará and other local beats. The singer, already known for her sensual songs, faces the theme even more head-on (or backwards, depending on the song). The sexual adventures have generous and inspired contributions from Anitta, MC Carol, Gloria Groove, Kannalha and Tchelinho. They are satisfying quickies. Maybe it doesn’t have the accessible hits of previous albums. But, for the most faithful audience, it is perhaps the best that Pabllo has ever offered. Pabllo, Anitta and Ramemes The composition and production are led by the great team at Brabo Music – Rodrigo Gorky, Zebu, Arthur Marques, Maffalda and Pablo Bispo. They even summon stars like Ramemes, DJ from Volta Redonda (RJ), self-described “destroyer of funk”. It is Ramemes who forms the basis for the first of two partnerships between Pabllo and Anitta. The vignette “Calma amigo” mixes a frantic beat and cavernous bass with WhatsApp audios of the two singers talking naughty things. She sets the bold tone and nothing straight to the main track of the two, the great “Balinha de Coração”. It has the electronic collages of mandelão, an aggressive electronic pagodão and a mocking sexual lyrics that reminds MC Pipokinha. It has everything to shine on TikTok and at the carnival. Anitta enters a trap-funk section with a lilting vocal, almost as if she were a guest rapper, far from what was expected. It shouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s great to see how the two play it safe. Others sound more like Pabllo’s previous albums, like the latin “Derretida” and the 150 (actually sped up, 160 BPM) mix of tecnobrega and funk “Culpa do cupido”. The chorus is the height of the record’s infamy: “Blame ass… blame ass… blame Cupid!”. But it’s “Penetra”, a partnership with the Bahian artist Kannalha that makes the best use of the daring theme and sound.
