Opponents of the president of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), Josué Gomes, met this Friday (20) to inaugurate Elias Miguel Haddad as interim president of the entity. The dean is one of the delegates that make up the council of representatives of the federation. After Elias Haddad took office, an email was sent to employees of the entity. “The act takes place after the decision of the Extraordinary General Assembly, convened by means of a regular public notice at the request of the absolute majority of the Council of Representatives, which, after hearing the defense arguments and rejecting them, decided to remove Josué Gomes from office”, says the internal statement. An internal communiqué was sent to Fiesp employees. Reproduction The meeting took place after members of the Fiesp assembly decided, on Monday (16), to dismiss Gomes. The vote was led by union representatives and members of the board of directors of the entity who are in opposition to the businessman. The assembly had 47 votes in favor of removal and one against, in addition to two abstentions. The result, however, is not recognized by the top Fiesp and by the defense of Josué Gomes, who alleges a lack of quorum and consensus. Fiesp manifested itself yesterday, three days after the decision. In a statement sent to the press, the federation stated that the businessman “is the president of the entity and is in full exercise of his functions, as determined by the statutes in effect”. In reaction to the movement that tries to remove him from office, Gomes scheduled a meeting with union representatives for next Monday (23), the idea being to discuss the creation of governance improvement committees, after questions made by unions dissatisfied with the his administration. of the entity until now. In the same year he took over the industrial activities in the Regional Council of SESI-SP. He is coordinator of the Textile Industry Production Chain Committee, Confec Clothing and Clothing (Comtextil) since its creation in 2004. It is part of the Roberto Simonsen Institute (IRS). In the area of ​​international trade, he coordinates the Brazil-Turkey and Brazil-Pakistan councils and is a member of the Brazil-Tunisia and Brazil-Egypt councils. He is also a member of the Deliberative Council of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
