The demand for face-to-face courses at private higher education institutions has risen again, according to a survey that Abmes (sector association) will release this week.
According to the entity, 46% of the universities interviewed say that the number of new enrollments for face-to-face classes has surpassed the level of early 2022. Another 24% say that the enrollment of students has remained, while 30% have observed a reduction in demand according to the survey.
“Institutions were attracting less and less in attendance. The number was decreasing”, says Celso Niskier, president of Abmes.
He attributes the result to official campaigns by the federal government. “We watch it on TV and [ouvimos] on the radios an intense MEC campaign encouraging young people to enter higher education. Sisu grew and naturally increased demand for Prouni and Fies.”
Despite the sign of progress, only 17% of the institutions interviewed said they had beaten their targets for new enrollments, according to Abmes.
