Workers linked to the Single Federation of Petroleum Workers (FUP) will paralyze activities on Friday (24) to assess the possibility of going on strike against the resumption of Petrobras’ asset privatization process, according to a statement issued this Monday (21 ).

According to the category, the decision for the stoppage comes after a letter sent by the company’s Board of Directors to proceed with the sale of projects that already have pre-contracts signed, such as the Polo Norte Capixaba, Polos Golfinho and Camarupim (ES), Polos Pescada and Potiguar (RN) and Lubnor (CE).

The document sent by the board to the Council comes two weeks after the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) sent a letter to Petrobras asking for the suspension of the sale of assets for 90 days.

Petrobras has not commented on the stoppage and the possibility of a strike by oil workers. Last Friday (17), the company issued a statement saying that it had sent a letter to the MME on the request to suspend the sale of assets (see in full), and said that, after preliminary studies on the “divestment processes”, “ we did not verify reasons why projects in which there were already signed contracts (signing) should be suspended. The processes in which there were no signed contracts will continue to be analyzed”.
