OAB-AM will celebrate 33 years of the CDC at the 1st Consumer Protection Congress

Manaus (AM) – Next Monday (11), the Brazilian Bar Association — Amazonas Section (OAB-AM), in partnership with the Public Defender’s Office of the State of Amazonas and the Superior School of Judiciary of the State of Amazonas (ESMAM), will promote the 1st OAB-AM Consumer Protection Congress. The event will be held in celebration of the 33rd anniversary of the Consumer Protection Code and will take place in the ESMAM auditorium, a building attached to the Court of Justice of Amazonas (TJAM), from 2:30 pm to 7 pm.

The event is free and open to anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of consumer protection issues. To participate, simply register through the Sympla platform at the following link: Participants will receive certification for 10 additional hours.

According to the president of OAB-AM, Jean Cleuter Mendonça, the congress is a unique opportunity to discuss and reflect on consumer rights and protection, topics of extreme relevance in our society with renowned speakers.

The president of the OAB-AM Consumer Protection Committee, Reginaldo Oliveira, said that the general objective of the congress is to bring maximum legal knowledge in relation to the consumer protection code and consumer rights.

“We need to take this knowledge to the whole of society, to lawyers, law students and the entire legal profession and we are going there because consumer law is always evolving, so we are going to bring very current and relevant issues”,

The congress will be divided into several tables that will debate topics such as “The characterization and arbitration of moral damage as a mechanism for implementing social function”; “Challenges of protecting consumer time”; “33 years of the Consumer Protection Code: Advances and Challenges”, in addition to a series of tributes to names in the area of ​​consumer law in Amazonas.

Confirmed at the event are the lawyer and General Rapporteur of the Federal Senate Committee of Jurists for updating the Consumer Protection Code, Cláudia Lima Marques (online); the Federal Counselor of the OAB and Vice-President of the National Tax Law Commission of the CFOAB, Jonny Cleuter Simões Mendonça; the Public Defender and Coordinator of the Consumer Protection Unit, Christiano Pinheiro da Costa; the Author of the Theory of Productive Deviation and the Consumer Service Code, Marcos Dessaune; the Judge of the Court of Justice of Amazonas, Rafael Cró; the Doctor in Constitutional Law (UNIFOR) and Master in Legal Sciences from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), Maurilio Casas Maia; the TJDF Judge and Executive Secretary of the National Consumer Defense Group (GNDC) of the National Council of Attorneys General of the Federal Public Ministry – CNPG, Leonardo Rosco Bessa; the Doctor and Master in Civil Procedure and Public Defender of the State of Amazonas, Rafael Vinheiro Monteiro Barbosa and the Lawyer in Consumer Relations, Doctor in Constitutional Law and Member of the special Consumer Defense commission of the Federal Council of the OAB, Rosely de Assis Fernandes .
