Nursing floor: private hospitals maintain pressure – 04/19/2023 – Panel SA

The tension around the nursing floor should not come to an end even after the signing of the bill by President Lula on Tuesday (18) to release the R$ 7.3 billion. The new phase of pressure will be carried out by the private sector, which is asking for payroll and income tax exemptions to cover the increase in its professionals.
Bruno Sobral, from CNSaúde (industry confederation), says that the impact of the readjustment on private hospitals is R$ 6 billion.
“It’s hard to imagine that the private sector will manage. It’s irresponsible. The problem in the private sector has not yet been resolved. It hasn’t even come close”, says Bruno Sobral.
He argues that the impact will be greater among small institutions, which prevail in the sector because 73% of the total have less than 50 beds.
