Northeastern author combines medieval and indigenous legends to write a book

The author’s diverse and rich sources of inspiration led to an audacious and unusual plot.

Upon arriving in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, a small French town, the starting point of the “Caminho de Santigo de Compostela”, the writer from Piauí, Jose Nelson Freitas Farias, felt a call. Enraptured by the medieval landscape, he was transported in memories of the stories he heard in his childhood and adolescence.

The writer knew at that moment that he needed to put all the experiences he lived and would live on the pilgrimage into a book. At that moment, the trilogy “O Segredo do Caminho” (The Secret of the Path) was born, from the Collection “The Guardians of the Path – The Universal Necklace”, whose first volume “The Call” was recently published.

The work, however, is not limited to what happened on the “Camino de Santiago de Compostela”. The author also looked for references in his time as a boy lived in Parnaíba, Piauí, and Araioses, in Maranhão: in the games of hero and bandit and hide-and-seek with friends; in the cordel singers and the repentistas that he heard in the Municipal Market and in the stories of hauntings and legends (Mula Sem Cabeça, Bumba-Meu-Boi, Castigo do Castelo de Pedra, among others), which were told by his mother, sister and aunt .

Jose Nelson’s multiple, diverse and rich sources of inspiration could only lead to an audacious and unusual plot. In it, medieval European and indigenous legends parade in a fantastic universe, presented with a lot of imagination and a sense of creativity.

At the beginning, the reader cannot help but feel a certain strangeness with this unexpected mixture and, when entering the dense woods of the plot, delving deeper into its tasty stories, he is carried away by a delight and a curiosity, which leaves him with only one option. : follow the reading and finish it, even knowing that you will miss the plot and the characters.

Synopsis of the book:

One day the galaxies will align, and this alignment could cause the imbalance of universal forces and the destruction of the universe. To prevent the alignment, the Mages anointed 33 stones with their powers and launched them into space. These stones circumnavigated the immensity of the universe, absorbing its energy to allow the assembly of the “Universal Necklace”. The stones wandered for many ages and finally fell, randomly, to Earth.

To collect the stones, the Magi traveled all the galaxies in search of a special hero and discovered that Yakecan and Anahi, two Tupi-Guarani Indians, would be chosen.

The two will have to command an army, face the Guardians of the Path, collect the stones, assemble the necklace and deliver it to the King of Iria Flavia, before the galaxies align. This is what O Segredo do Caminho offers: admiring and getting to know these heroes who left the Amazon Rainforest to save the universe.
