Nonna Oma, home cooking restaurant, opens its doors in Curitiba

Curitiba, has just won a new gastronomic establishment. Nonna Oma, restaurant of the Jardim Secreto group, opens its doors in the Bigorrilho neighborhood. The house unites Italian, German and Brazilian cuisine, in a simple and cozy proposal.
The new restaurant has a more homely approach, with a per-kilo buffet system, quite different from Jardim Secreto, which excels in contemporary cuisine and à la carte dishes.
In the definition of Mariana Guerra, one of the owners, Nonna Oma serves “Grandma’s Food”, inspired by the recipes and teachings of the family’s Italian and German matriarchs. Hence the combination of nonna (grandmother in Italian) and oma (grandmother in German) to compose the name of the restaurant.
grandma’s residence
Located in the same space where Sugar Bakery operated, a confectionery that closed its doors in early 2022, the house is a classic residence, where curiously (and by coincidence) a German lady, grandmother of many grandchildren, lived.
“This connection from mother to daughter, from grandmother to granddaughter, always goes through the kitchen. These teachings that are passed down from generation to generation are at the heart of Nonna Oma which, like a grandma’s house, brings tasty and loving food in a space full of warmth”, emphasizes Mariana.
In addition to the buffet, Nonna Oma also has very “affective” recipes on the dessert menu. The milk pudding and grandma’s sago are some simple options, but full of memories that can be tasted at the restaurant or taken home.
Nonna Oma is located at Rua Capitão Souza Franco, 235 – Bigorrilho. Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, from 11 am to 4 pm. @nonnaoma.cozinha
