National technology giant becomes target of workers – 07/05/2023 – Panel SA

One of the best-known entrepreneurs in the technology business, Marco Stefanini has a big problem. Negotiations with Sindpd, the category’s union, begin this week, which accuses the company of having coerced more than 200 employees to resign.

The alleged infraction would have occurred last year, when Stefanini lost the bid for Prodesp, a technology company owned by the government of São Paulo.

The case turned into an investigation opened in March by the Public Ministry of Labor in São Paulo.

In the complaint, Sindpd states that, at the time, Stefanini gave employees two options: to remain in the company or resign and migrate to the competitor that won the Prodesp auction.

Stefanini already provided services for the state-owned company in São Paulo and many of the employees, who today claim to have been under pressure, wanted to be fired so that they could later migrate to the new service provider. Many of them had been with Prodesp for over a decade.

Stefanini is one of the major multinationals in the IT sector and employs more than 30,000 people. Marco Stefanini, CEO and founder of the company, is part of the list of 246 businessmen, activists and personalities of the Economic and Social Development Council, the Conselhão —reactivated by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday (4).

In a note, Stefanini said that it opened the way for negotiations with the union.

“Throughout its 35 years, Stefanini has always been open to negotiations and, in this specific case, it has been requesting a new meeting with Sindpd for more than 10 days, which will be held at the beginning of next week, when the company will once again deal with the points in question,” the company said.
