Manaus (AM) – With the theme “Amazon, borders and geographic scales in health analysis”, the 11th edition of the National Symposium on Health Geography (XI Geosaúde) will take place from November 5th to 9th. The event is organized by the State University of Amazonas (UEA), in partnership with the Leônidas and Maria Deane Institute (ILMD/Fiocruz Amazônia), Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam) and the Health Surveillance Foundation (FVS/RCP/AM ).
The person responsible for the opening conference will be Jorge Amâncio Pickenhayn, from the University of San Juan, which will take place on Sunday (05), at 6:30 pm, in the auditorium of the Escola Superior de Tecnologia (ENS), on Avenida Darcy Vargas, 1.200, Parque Dez de Novembro .
Specialist Eduardo Werneck, from the Instituto Federal Catarinense (IFC), explains that the main characteristic of the symposium is mobility throughout Brazil.
“Going to the Amazon, especially Manaus, has a symbolic value, as it serves to connect new areas of knowledge, such as the dynamics involving the Amazon, traditional peoples, alternative medicine, etc. These guidelines are part of what health geography has to think about”,
highlighted.
Schedule
The event will feature an opening conference, five round tables, where national and international guests will participate. There will also be workshops and mini-courses; oral and poster presentation sessions; book launch; and closing conference.
On November 7th, starting at 4pm, Susane Patrícia Melo de Lima, from UEA, will mediate round table 4, with the theme: Urbanization, Vulnerabilities and Gender Issues.
