Morrissey reschedules show in Brazil for February 2024 after dengue diagnosis

Morrissey announced in June the performances of the “40 Years of Morrissey” tour here. The musician would perform in São Paulo (SP) and Brasília (DF), on September 27th and 30th, respectively. The last time Morrissey came to Brazil was in 2018, on the “Low in High School” tour for his 11th solo album. Before that, he had performed on national stages in 2015, 2012 and 2000. Among the songs that mark the Englishman’s solo career are “The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get”, “Everyday Is Like Sunday”, “First Of The Gang To Die” and “Satan Rejected My Soul”. Morrissey rose to fame in the 1980s, when he was still a member of the Smiths, a group that became known as one of the biggest names in indie rock. A controversial figure, the musician was repeatedly accused of racism, sexism and xenophobia. The controversies in which he was involved include the time he came out in defense of Harvey Weinstein, a Hollywood producer convicted of a series of sexual crimes, when he said that Barack Obama, then American president, appeared to be “white inside”, and the statement in which he classified the Chinese people as a “subspecies”.
