More than 64,000 doses of bivalent vaccines arrive in Amazonas

Manaus (AM) – Amazonas received the second batch of bivalent vaccine with 64,800 doses against Covid-19, this Monday (13). Added to the first batch received, there are 97,200 doses of Pfizer’s immunizer. Immunizers were received to continue the vaccination campaign against the disease.
The second batch arrived on Sunday (12) at the Immunobiological Center of Amazonas, located at the Amazonas Health Surveillance Foundation – Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto (FVS-RCP), linked to the Amazonas State Health Secretariat (SES-AM) . Immediately, the actions of checking the doses were started by the state team of the National Immunization Program (PNI).
“The bivalent vaccine offers protection against the original variant of the virus that causes Covid-19 and also against the others that emerged later, including Omicron and its subvariants. The immunizer represents protection. Our effort, as an Immunization Program, is to reach the greatest number of people with the update of the vaccination schedule”, highlights the director-president of FVS-RCP, Tatyana Amorim.
Pfizer’s bivalent vaccine against Covid-19 differs from others from the same laboratory due to its gray lid. On Thursday (09), Amazonas received the first batch of Pfizer’s bivalent vaccine against Covid-19. There were 32,400 doses of immunizer that were stored at the Amazonas Immunobiological Center.

Vaccination with bivalent doses should occur in phases. The vaccination schedule for priority groups will be a dose of bivalent vaccine (booster) for people who present at least the primary schedule of two doses with monovalent vaccines. The interval for booster doses with bivalent vaccines will be from 4 months after the last booster dose or the primary schedule with monovalent vaccines.
The priority groups are:
Phase 1: people aged 70 and over; people living in long-term institutions, such as nursing homes, aged 12 and over, sheltered and workers in these institutions; immunocompromised; indigenous, riverside and quilombola communities; pregnant and puerperal women;
Phase 2: people from 60 to 69 years old;
Phase 3: Health workers;
Phase 4: Persons with permanent disabilities.
