Multivaccination actions for children and adolescents across the country will receive financial incentives from the Ministry of Health, which will allocate more than R$ 151 million to states and municipalities.

The measure – announced by Minister Nísia Trindade, during the 37th National Congress of Municipal Health Secretariats, in Goiânia – is contained in Ordinance No. 844, of July 14, 2023, published in the Official Diary of the Union this Tuesday (18).

According to the document signed by the minister, the transfer of resources will take place in two stages: the first, with 60% of the total amount, and the second after the closing of the micro-planning actions. Of the total, R$ 13 million will go to the states and R$ 138 million to the municipalities.

“In micro-planning, the Ministry of Health works with states and municipalities to improve the planning of vaccination actions. Teams from the department go to the states to participate in the actions of this method, such as the analysis of the situation of the data (local geographic, socioeconomic and demographic characteristics), definition of vaccination strategies (intra and extramural), follow-up and monitoring of the actions and evaluation of the entire vaccination process to reach the goals”,

says the note released by the Ministry of Health.

It adds that vaccination in schools, the active search for unvaccinated individuals, vaccination in any contact with a health service, extramural vaccination, checking the vaccination booklet and intensifying vaccination in indigenous areas are among the strategies that can be adopted. through micro-planning by municipalities.

Multivaccination has already been anticipated in Amazonas, Acre and Amapá. The choice of states seeks to contain diseases that have already been eliminated in Brazil, given the drop in vaccination coverage recorded in recent years.

The alert is even greater due to the risk of reintroduction of polio, a disease that was reported in March of this year in Peru, in the border region. Roraima, Maranhão and Pará will be the next states to receive multivaccination. The forecast is that the actions in the health units of these states begin in August, informed the Ministry of Health.
