To guide his decision, the Minister explained that the estimate is that the States would fail to collect approximately R$ 16 billion
An excerpt from the law that changed the collection of ICMS (Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services) was changed, this Friday (10), by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court Luiz Fux. The decision allows States to re-charge tariffs corresponding to transmission and distribution costs. The change will still be analyzed by the other Justices of the Court.
The change imposed in the law sanctioned by former President Jair Bolsonaro would represent a drop in revenue for the States. The calculation is that the reduction would be around R$ 16 billion per semester. These fares are called Tust and Tusd, respectively.
To guide his decision, the Minister explained that the estimate is that the States would fail to collect approximately R$ 16 billion.
The other members of the STF will analyze Fux’s decision from February 24 to March 3. The work will take place through the virtual plenary of the Court, when there is no individual reading of each vote, only the registration of votes in the Court’s system.
