Metro: Google wallet allows you to buy tickets in SP – 03/01/2023 – Tech

Google added to its digital wallet the possibility of buying and saving subway tickets in the city of São Paulo and CPTM, according to an announcement this Wednesday (1st). Tickets work via QR Codes from the Top platform, readable by the turnstiles, and can be purchased without queuing.

The new feature is only available to Android cell phone owners and is offered in partnership with the urban mobility company Autopass — developer of the Top system, which includes a card valid for road transport in 43 municipalities in São Paulo and an application for accessing rail transport in the region metropolitan area of ​​São Paulo.

In Google Wallet, each passenger can buy up to ten tickets at a time.

Payment for the ticket is available at no additional cost via the Google payment system, by credit or debit cards. After completing the purchase, the QR Code ticket will be available on the Google Wallet home screen. The passenger will then only need to bring the smartphone screen with the code to the turnstile’s display, wait for verification and continue the trip.

Google, in partnership with Autopass, also allows users of the Rio de Janeiro and Brasília subways to buy tickets with the digital wallet. The São Paulo experience, however, is the first to guarantee ticket acquisition and storage within the application.

According to the leader of strategy and operations for payments at Google Brazil, Natacha Litvinov, the new transport ticket section is a quick and easy way to buy tickets and store them in one place. “Our goal is to make people’s daily lives easier, so that they spend less time in queues and have more time for themselves”.

HOW TO BUY TICKET WITH THE GOOGLE APP

Just go to Google Wallet (available for Android users in the Play Store) and tap on the ‘Add to Wallet’ option located in the bottom right corner of the home screen. Afterwards, you need to select the item ‘Public transport card’ and then the passenger will find the option to purchase tickets by city.

When selecting São Paulo, characterized by the Top platform logo, the user is redirected to a website that asks for purchase information. After filling in all the fields, the site presents the payment option via Google Pay, with a credit or debit card.

According to Google, its payment application allows you to store credit and debit cards from different issuers, including Bradesco, Itaú, Nubank, and proof of vaccination. In addition, it is possible to save tickets for events purchased through platforms such as Sympla and Ingresso.com and boarding passes from Gol and Latam.
