The first public tender of the MCTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation) in 11 years will have salaries that can reach R$ 8,407.83 in the 814 vacancies that will be disputed.
The authorization for the process was announced on Monday (10th) in an ordinance signed by Minister Esther Dweck, of Management and Innovation in Public Services.
All jobs are for higher education, with 296 vacancies for science and technology analysts, 253 for researchers and 265 for technologists.
The folder informed the Sheet that salaries will vary with the degree required for the positions. Initially, the income will be as follows:
- Researcher – from BRL 8,407.83
- Technologist – from BRL 6,662.18
- Analyst in Science and Technology – from BRL 6,662.18
Publication of the public tender opening notice must take place within six months. Otherwise, it will be cancelled.
The contest is the first to be held at the MCTI since 2012. At the time, 510 vacancies were opened for middle, technical and higher level positions.
Ministry cuts staff
According to the folder, this year’s selection will serve to restructure the staff in the ministry’s research units.
There has been a reduction of more than 10% in some of the positions since 2018. According to the MCTI, there were 360 analysts in science and technology five years ago. Currently, the folder has 316 people in office, a decrease of 12.2%.
The decrease in employees also occurred for researchers (554 to 498) and technologists (714 to 647), two other positions that will be hired in the public tender.

“We will start the procedures so that the event takes place in the shortest possible time”, informed the ministry. No date has yet been set for the test to be held or further details about the contest. They must be disclosed with the public notice.
Forecast of more contests in the year
The MCTI contest is the second of the Lula administration. In March, a selection of 30 vacancies was announced for the third secretary of the diplomat career, which requires a university degree. The process complies with the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Last week, Dweck stated that he would launch the first block of public tenders this Monday (10) and explained that there will still be three more blocks during the year.
The minister said that the priority will be bodies with a deficit of servers. “Several areas are having difficulty. It was a period of much dismantling, practically without any tenders,” said Dweck in an interview with EBC (Empresa Brasileira de Comunicação) vehicles last week.
