Died this Saturday (26), at the age of 45, singer MC Marcinho, also known as the “Prince of Funk”. He had been hospitalized at the Copa D’Or Hospital, in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro, since June 27, to treat heart and kidney failure.
The death was confirmed by the hospital where the singer was hospitalized: “The Hospital Copa D’Or confirms, with regret, the death of the patient Marcio André Nepomuceno Garcia this Saturday morning (26), at 9:10 am, due to multiple organ failure . The hospital sympathizes with family and friends for this irreparable loss.”
On July 10, MC Marcinho needed to be intubated after suffering a cardiac arrest. Three days later, on July 13, the funk artist received an artificial heart, a device of intermediate duration, which can be used for three to four months. He was hospitalized with mechanical ventilation and dependent on hemodialysis.
In recent days, however, MC Marcinho’s health deteriorated further due to a generalized infection, which made him leave the queue for a heart transplant.
Marcio André Nepomuceno Garcia was born in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, state of Rio de Janeiro. The singer-songwriter was one of the main highlights of the funk movement in the 90s. He became known for the hits “Rap do Solitário”, “Princesa”, “Glamurosa” and “Garota nota 100”.
