For the third consecutive week, financial market agents project a drop in inflation this year at 5.69, according to data from the Focus Report released this Monday (5). A week ago, the expectation was 5.71%, and 6.02% four weeks ago (see in full).

The forecast comes after the release of the good result of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) released last week, better than expected by the market, 1.9% in the first quarter. The expectation was 1.2% and it was the best result for a year since 2010, when the Brazilian economy grew 2.2%.

This beginning of the week’s Focus Report also points to an increase in the GDP outlook for the whole year, ending at 1.68% at the end of 2023. Financial market agents also project a drop in the dollar exchange rate for the third straight week, from BRL 5.10 for the year.
