Manaus (AM) – Tucumã and açaí hamburgers and sausages, Brazil nut milk powder, coffee and chocolate made from organic fruits, as well as cosmetics and indigenous craft items are some of the products from impact businesses that contribute to the maintenance of the forest amazon that will be in the portfolio of the Market Amazônia em Casa, Floresta em Pé space, during the three days of ExpoAmazônia Bio&TIC 2023, which takes place from the 28th to the 30th of November, from 2pm, with free entry, at Studio 5 Centro de Convenções , In Manaus.

The thirty-three participating businesses will make products available for sale to the public in the food, beverage, fashion and crafts and cosmetics segments, being examples of innovation in the bioeconomy and commitment to the Amazon and its populations, given the mode of production and values ​​practiced.

Of the total participating brands, 24 are part of the fixed portfolio of the ‘Amazônia em Casa, Floresta em Pé’ movement, an initiative by Idesam, AMAZ Aceleradora de Impacto and Climate Ventures, which brings together businesses that aim to strengthen and promote sustainable production chains in the Amazon and the families and communities that protect the forest. The movement was created in June 2020 with the aim of optimizing logistics and costs, in addition to leveraging the market access ecosystem for Amazonian socio-biodiversity products.

In addition to generating a positive impact within the Amazon, the products in the portfolio of the ‘Amazônia em Casa, Floresta em Pé’ movement are characterized by a greater degree of purity of socio-biodiversity products in their composition, to the detriment of those considered ultra-processed.

“This is an intelligent arrangement that manages to overcome logistical costs and promotion and access to the market, the main challenges for socio-biodiversity enterprises. Strengthening impact projects on a community basis is the key to keeping the forest standing”,

says Laís Bombonatte, New Business specialist at AMAZ/Idesam, who is part of the ACFP coordination.

All businesses are selected based on criteria such as having a product tested on the market and operating in the Amazon. The Call for New Businesses 2022 received 92 entries and selected 50 impactful ventures. The projection is, in two years, to support 50 Amazon socio-biodiversity enterprises that contribute to the conservation of 25 thousand hectares of forest and the generation of income for more than 1 thousand families in the regions where it operates.

The expectation is for a 50% reduction in the logistics costs of these companies’ operations and a 100% increase in revenue for the brands involved.

In the movement, the enterprises share solutions and services, knowledge, infrastructure and strategies in logistics, marketing, communication, as well as impact measurement to take forest products to the market at competitive prices, ensuring the maintenance of the forest standing and the generation of employment and income for families and local communities.

The space will operate close to the Idesam stand, which will participate by selling copies of the book ‘Só tem na Amazônia’, containing illustrations of 50 lessons for life, inspired by the riches and values ​​of the region. Part of the profit from the sale goes towards supporting conservation and sustainable development.

ExpoAmazônia Bio&TIC 2023 is organized by the Manaus Digital Pole Association (APDM), Institute for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Amazon (Idesam), Government of Amazonas – through the Secretariat of Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti-AM ) -, Manaus City Hall – through the Municipal Secretariat of Labor, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Semtepi) and the Amazon Biobusiness Center (CBA).
