Latam chose Minas Gerais cook Manuelle Ferraz to sign the new dish served to customers on long-haul international flights (more than 7 hours) departing from Brazil. The chef runs two units at the restaurant A Baianeira, in São Paulo, one in Barra Funda and another at the São Paulo Museum of Art, Masp.
Since May 1st, all passengers on these flights, economy or business class, have the opportunity to try Manuelle’s Galinhada das Deusas (rice, chicken and vegetables). The new dish replaces Baião de Dois ao Mar, by Bahian chef Nara Amaral, who started the Sabor à Brasileira program in February this year.
Sabor à Brasileira is part of a company initiative to increase diversity and inclusion. The idea is to create opportunities and expand spaces for female chefs on the rise for the creativity and excellence of their work.
“We are very proud to give this space to fantastic women and to be able to connect our customers with dishes and flavors created with so much care and talent”, says Paulo Miranda, vice president of the customer area at Latam, in a press release.
Born in Almenara (MG), a municipality close to Bahia, Manuelle brings typical Brazilian ingredients to her dishes, which refer to her roots. This origin, incidentally, was the source of inspiration for naming its restaurants A Baianeira, a synthesis that expresses the junction between “Baiana” and “Mineira”.
