Manausmed is raising the contribution percentage from 3% to 4.5% as of August. The readjustment rebalances the finances of the fund that pays for the service, which has been rescued by the current management, and more: it guarantees the implementation of new improvements later this year, such as telemedicine – medical consultations by cell phone application.

Since 2021, Manausmed user servers have once again relied on hospitals, laboratories and associated clinics, in addition to medical care in dozens of specialties. Currently, the Manaus City Hall service serves 40,000 people, of which 27,000 are payers and 13,000 dependants.

Oncology care is one of the most expensive and receives special attention from Manausmed. It now has two new oncology clinics and a reduction in the waiting list for surgeries in the area, which do not take ten days to perform the procedure. Currently, 260 patients undergo treatments in this area, with costs ranging from R$ 7,000 to R$ 130,000 per patient.

“We rescued our health care plan and it has been growing and improving, but in order to continue moving forward, we need to rebalance the finances”, explains the undersecretary of Manausmed, César Marques.

Even so, explains the manager, the plan will continue with one of the lowest contribution rates among governments that offer public health care. “One of the best in the country is in Minas Gerais, and there, the percentage is around 8%”, he exemplifies.

With the work carried out since 2021, Manausmed arrives this year offering the Manaus City Hall server face-to-face assistance in more than 50 specialties.

Patients can turn to three new hospitals; a general clinic that only takes care of urgent orthopedic surgeries and hernia and vesicle surgeries, for example, reducing the waiting list; two new oncology clinics, in addition to new specialties and laboratories.

With the financial rebalancing that the readjustment in the contribution provides, the Manausmed manager says that new features will be implemented, including telemedicine. The server can be consulted, from the mobile application, in more than 40 specialties. And if you need a medical certificate, it will be issued by the application itself.

“In addition, we are also going to expand the specialties offered, to speed up the service, thus reducing even more the waiting time for the procedure, from the consultation to the surgery”, adds César Marques.
