Manaus (AM) – Reinforcing vaccination as the most effective instrument for preventing and combating Covid-19, the City of Manaus advises the population to seek out basic health network units to start or update the vaccination schedule against the disease. The application of doses is offered this week, from Monday to Friday, 11 to 15, in 74 units managed by the Municipal Health Department (Semsa), distributed in all geographic areas of the capital.

The municipal undersecretary of Health Management, Djalma Coelho, informs that Semsa Manaus has been seeking to expand the population’s access to vaccination, by offering the service during extended hours, from 8 am to 8 pm, in nine units of the municipal network. In other establishments, service takes place during regular hours, from 8 am to 5 pm.

“Semsa aims to ensure that everyone has access to the vaccine, as it greatly reduces the risks of health problems resulting from Covid-19, and also to limit the transmission of the virus that causes the disease, increasing protection for the entire community ”,

states.

According to Djalma, users must go to the nearest health unit carrying an official identification document with photo, CPF or Unified Health System (SUS) Card to receive the vaccine. The list of establishments offering vaccination, with opening hours and addresses, can be seen on the website semsa.manaus.am.gov.br or via the direct link bit.ly/localvacinacovid19.

“Everyone from 6 months of age can be vaccinated. Anyone who has already started the vaccination schedule can check whether they are on time to receive the second dose or booster dose at Imuniza Manaus (imuniza.manaus.am.gov.br), just providing the CPF number”,

Djalma informs that users aged 12 and over can receive the vaccine at any of the city hall’s 74 vaccination points. Children under 12 years of age, accompanied by their parents or guardians, are cared for in specific units, 14 of which are aimed at babies aged 6 months to 4 years, and 35 for children aged 5 to 11 years.

Effective and safe

In units of the basic health network, doses of monovalent and bivalent vaccines are offered, with those being used as the first and second doses of the primary regimen for the entire population from 6 months of age, and as a booster dose for adolescents aged 12 to 17. years not members of priority groups.

Bivalent vaccines, which protect against two versions of the coronavirus, are applied as a booster dose to people aged 18 and over and adolescents from groups with greater vulnerability, risks of complications and death and greater exposure.

Djalma Coelho explains that all vaccines offered in the public health network are effective and safe, having due approval from the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).

“Whether mono or bivalent, the vaccine will stimulate the immune system’s defenses against the coronavirus, increasing the person’s protection against the disease,”
