Manaus (AM) – Manaus reached, for the fourth consecutive time, the first place in the ranking of capitals of “Previne Brasil”, a national program that measures the quality of basic health services offered to the population and serves as a parameter for the financing of municipal actions, becoming a national highlight in Primary Health Care. The result was released by the Ministry of Health this Friday afternoon (27).

“Achieving, once again, the highest score among all Brazilian capitals evaluated by the program is confirmation that Manaus continues to advance in its purpose of offering everyone, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly, the best attention and the best health care. . We are four-time champions in Previne Brasil and we are not going to stop here”, said Mayor David Almeida.

The Previne Brasil ranking shows that Manaus received 8.57 in the Final Synthetic Index (ISF), which represents the average of the results obtained in the seven indicators evaluated by the program. With the grade, Manaus was ahead of Maceió (7.61), Porto Alegre (7.45), Curitiba (7.11), Brasília (6.79), Campo Grande (6.61) Florianópolis (6.54 ), Natal (6.40), Porto Velho (6.38) and Rio de Janeiro (6.35), considering the ten cities with the highest score. The note refers to the period from September to December 2022.

The mayor of Manaus congratulated the managers and technicians of the Municipal Health Secretariat (Semsa) and highlighted that the achievement is the result of investments by municipal management in training, improving infrastructure, managing goals and monitoring results.

“On behalf of secretary Shádia Fraxe and undersecretaries Djalma Coelho and Nagib Salem, I thank all municipal health workers for this great advance”, he said.

The municipal secretary of Health, Shádia Fraxe, stated that keeping Manaus in the first place for four consecutive evaluations is the result of teamwork and the dedication of each of the more than 10,000 Semsa employees.

“We are very happy with the grade we achieved, especially as this is not an easy challenge. We have many work fronts to meet the different needs of health promotion and disease prevention among a population that exceeds 2 million people”, he said.

The Final Synthetic Index represents the average performance of the municipality in the seven Previne Brasil indicators, used as a quality parameter of primary care services offered to users of the public system. The results are also used to calculate the financing of health actions at the municipal level.

According to the undersecretary of Health Management, Djalma Coelho, the evaluation of Previne Brasil is carried out every four months and considers actions in the areas of women’s health, children’s health and chronic diseases.

Currently, the seven indicators considered by the Ministry of Health are: pregnant women with at least six prenatal consultations, the first being carried out up to the 12th week of pregnancy; of pregnant women with tests for syphilis and HIV; of pregnant women with dental care performed; of women with cytopathological test collection in the APS; of 1-year-old children vaccinated with the pentavalent and against poliomyelitis; of people with hypertension, with consultation and blood pressure measured in the semester; and people with diabetes and glycated hemoglobin requested in the semester.

“For the Ministry of Health, results above 7 on the average of these indicators guarantee municipalities the Seal of Quality in Primary Health Care. We have surpassed this result and since the first evaluation we have risen by almost half a point, which represents, in practice, a huge volume of people reached and quality registrations carried out”, emphasized Djalma Coelho.

The final grades achieved by the municipality since the program was started were 8.10 in the third quarter of 2021; 7.74 in the first quarter of 2022; and 8.37 in the second quarter of 2022.
