Manaus Industrial Pole earns BRL 26.9 billion in the first two months of 2023

Revenue of BRL 26.96 billion recorded in the first two months of this year represents an increase of 6.87% compared to the same period of 2022

Manaus (AM) – The Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM) earned BRL 26.96 billion in the first two months of this year, representing growth of 6.87% compared to the same period in 2022, where it earned BRL 25.23 billion. In dollars, PIM billings also increased, by 8.69%, when comparing the values ​​registered between January and February 2023 (US$ 5.23 billion) with the amount obtained in the same period last year (US$ 4.81 billion) .

PIM exports totaled US$ 86.56 million in the first two months, which represents an increase of 13.31% compared to the same period in 2022 (US$ 76.39 million).

In February, PIM industries reported the maintenance of 110,362 direct jobs, including permanent, temporary and outsourced jobs. The indicator represents a positive variation of 2.27% compared to February 2022 (107,910 workers). With the partial results of the first two months, the monthly average of PIM’s workforce in 2023 is situated, so far, at 110,250 direct jobs.

Segments and products

The Electronics and Two Wheels segments, with revenues of R$5.04 billion and R$4.75 billion and growth of 20.2% and 40.27% in the first two months, respectively, were the main contributors to the increase in overall billing of PIM in the period in question.

Other segments that stood out include Chemicals, with revenues of R$ 2.52 billion and growth of 22.8%; Mechanic, with revenues of R$ 1.43 billion and growth of 9.09%; and Disposable Lighters, Pens and Shavers, with revenues of R$ 479.99 million and growth of 21.37%.

Among the main products manufactured by PIM, the biggest highlights in the first two months were televisions with LCD and OLED screens, with 1,971,299 units produced and growth of 35.59%; cell phones, with 2,506,162 units produced and growth of 2.01%; and motorcycles, scooters and mopeds, with 256,920 units produced and growth of 34.63%.

The first two months of the year also saw heating in the air conditioner manufacturing lines. Split system devices, with 774,536 units produced in the period, grew by 17.8%; 21,791 single-body window or wall-mounted air conditioners were manufactured, with growth of 253.01%.

Assessment

Suframa’s superintendent, Bosco Saraiva, highlights PIM’s good start to the year linked to the strong performance of representative segments of the regional industry, such as Eletroeletrônico and Duas Rodas.

“It is also worth mentioning the generation of more than 110,000 direct jobs, which, added to the jobs indirectly induced and fostered, we can reach a very satisfactory indicator of more than 500,000 jobs generated in the capital of Amazonas alone. But we know that the positive effects of the PIM activity also reach several other locations in the State and in the Country, and that is why we need to continue strengthening our industry so that the generation of jobs and income solidifies even more”,
