Makeup course trains Prosamin+ residents for the job market

The objective is to offer professional training opportunities for the job market and entrepreneurship

Manaus (AM) – Residents of Parque Residencial Mestre Chico II, in the Cachoeirinha neighborhood, south of Manaus, covered by the Social and Environmental Program of Manaus and Interior (Prosamin+), are learning the secrets and techniques of professional makeup.

The course is offered by the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE), an agency linked to the State Secretariat for Urban and Metropolitan Development (Sedurb). It has a partnership with the Amazonas Technological Education Center (Cetam).

According to the state secretary for Urban and Metropolitan Development, civil engineer Marcellus Campêlo, the objective is to offer professional training opportunities for the job market and for entrepreneurship.

“This partnership with Cetam for training Prosamin beneficiaries is now eight years old. With the initiative, the Government of Amazonas opens opportunities for social and economic growth to families, after the resettlement process. Residents gain or improve skills, and can contribute to increasing family income and progress financially”,

highlights the secretary.

The teacher of the makeup course at Cetam, Jana Oliveira, says that, after the 20 hours of classes, the participants are ready for the market, with a diploma and certificate.

“In this course, which has the participation of 24 students, we are also teaching the technique of applying eyelashes and designing eyebrows. They will be able to serve brides at wedding parties, birthday parties and people in general, and even think about opening their own business”,

stands out.

Classes at Mestre Chico II are encouraging housewife Keila Oliveira to make plans for the near future.

“I intend to take it forward, practice and invest. My plans are to enter the job market and attend both at home and at my house”,

says the student, who has already told her neighbors about the new service for which she is qualifying.

Student Bruna Lagoa was inspired by the classes and life stories told by the teacher, and now she is thinking of turning something that was just a hobby into a source of income.

“When I started doing makeup, it was meant to be used on me, but now, with this course, I learned from her how I can work and have an income”,

stated.

Professional qualification

Since 2015, 2,452 professionals have been trained in the courses taught at Prosamin+. Training is always in line with demands suggested by residents. Training has already been offered for functions such as administrative assistant, receptionist, merchandise checker, stockist, storekeeper, cashier, merchandise replenisher, installation and maintenance of air conditioners and basic IT.

This week, UGPE teams raised awareness to start new groups of pharmacy attendants, in the residential areas of Bacia dos Educandos, including Cachoeirinha, Gilberto Mestrinho, Cajual, Jefferson Péres, Liberdade and surroundings.

For the UGPE Social sub-coordinator, Viviane Dutra, professional training shows Prosamin+’s concern for families resettled in risk areas.

“The courses make it possible to enter the job market and are a way of giving families sustainability, since they have new expenses”,

observed.
