Lula’s “lack of commitment” and Haddad’s responses
[ad_1]
– Episode of the 15 Minutos podcast talks about Lula’s (PT) statements regarding meeting the fiscal target in 2024 and the response from the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad
*) Contrary to a target established in the fiscal framework drawn up by the economic team itself, Lula (PT) stated during a breakfast with journalists that the primary deficit target in 2024 “does not need to be zero” and that “the market is too greedy” for demanding the fulfillment of this objective.
This Monday (3), the Minister of Economy, Fernando Haddad, tried to put an end to the issue. He stated that there is “no lack of commitment” from Lula in relation to the objective of fiscal balance. However, he showed some irritation with the matter.
But will the zero deficit target for next year really be maintained (and met), after this disdain from President Lula (PT)?
This episode of 15 Minutes podcast talks about the subject and receives the Fernando Jasper, Economics editor at Gazeta do Povo.
