Lula will confirm on TV raising the minimum income tax and exemption – 04/30/2023 – Market

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will make a statement this Sunday night (30) on radio and television, on the eve of the May 1st holiday, International Labor Day.

Lula is going to announce the signing of the provisional measure that raises the minimum wage to R$1,320 and the new policy of valuing the minimum wage, whose bill will be forwarded to the National Congress later this year.

It will also be announced the elevation of the Income Tax exemption range to R$ 2,640. The representative will also reaffirm his commitment to gradually raise this exemption range to R$5,000 by the end of his term, which was a campaign promise by the PT.

Lula’s speech is scheduled for 8 pm. It will be the first time that the president will make use of the national radio and television network in his third term.

Lula still hasn’t officially confirmed if he’s going to participate in the traditional May 1st act in the Anhangabaú Valley, organized by the trade union centrals. The representative maintained the habit of appearing throughout his first two terms.

This Saturday (29), the president even flew to São Paulo for a private event. However, he decided to return to Brasilia in the afternoon of the same day.

The new minimum value and the gradual increase in the exemption range had been announced by Lula in February. The president will now formalize the increase in the minimum amount from R$1,302 to R$1,320, with the signature of the provisional measure.
