President Lula (PT) harshly criticized this Tuesday (27th) the interest rate policy for payroll loans and said that he will ask Minister Fernando Haddad (Finance) and bank representatives to review this policy and “know how the people are hurting the poor people”.

“What makes me indignant is the following: the interest, the payroll interest, the payroll loan, is given to those who have a guaranteed job, which is deducted from their salary, so there is no way to lose, it is 1.97%. Lula also returned to criticize the high interest rate in the country and once again attacked the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto.

“There is an average, I don’t know the total, of 10% interest per year. It’s expensive. It’s very expensive. This interest could be cheaper, but there is a citizen of the Central Bank, we don’t know who put it there, which makes the interest 13.75% [ao ano].

The representative stated that he wants to have a “shelf” of unproductive land, to avoid land invasions.

“We are going to make a shelf of the so-called unproductive lands in this country, and vacant lands. We can set up agrarian settlements for those who want to work in the fields without having to fight with anyone,” he said.
