“I told you that the price of gasoline was going to go down, that the price of diesel was going to go down, that the price of meat was going to go down and that the price of almost all foodstuffs was going to go down,” said the president at an event for delivery of homes. of Minha Casa Minha Vida in Abaetetuba (PA).

“And they will go down even more, and we will reduce inflation and that will generate more jobs. More jobs generate more wages and more wages lead to more consumption,” continued Lula, who, at another event in Belém, stated that “inflation it is the disgrace of the poor people”.

The deceleration of inflation in recent months is used by the government and allies as a reinforcement in the dispute with the Central Bank for the reduction in interest rates, also criticized by businessmen and economists.

Present at the event in Abaetetuba this Saturday, Senator Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP) even called the monetary authority a “Bolsonarist remnant”.

This week, according to the ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels), the average price of gasoline in the country was R$ 5.40 per liter, R$ 0.17 less than the peak of the year, in March , but BRL 0.36 per liter than in the last week of 2022.

In Abaetetuba, the government delivered 222 Minha Casa Minha Vida residences, which had construction work stopped during the previous government, according to the Minister of Cities, Jader Filho. Lula promised to resume other stalled works and build two million new homes.

On the night of this Friday (16), the government published four ordinances with the new rules for the housing program.

In this first stage, up to 130,000 homes in urban areas may be contracted. The acts also stipulate that the value of these properties, which can be houses or apartments, will vary from R$ 130,000 to R$ 170,000.

The ordinances also present conditions for the housing units, which must have balconies —as Lula had promised—, air conditioning points and space for libraries in the condominium.
