Lula government opens tender for Funai and Ministry of the Environment – 02/05/2023 – Market

The government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) opened competitions to fill vacancies at Funai (National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples) and at the Ministry of the Environment.

There will be 502 vacancies for the foundation responsible for matters related to indigenous peoples and another 92 for the ministry led by Marina Silva.

The ordinances authorizing the contests were published this Tuesday (2) in the Official Gazette.

For the Ministry of the Environment, all 98 vacancies will be for the position of environmental analyst, which requires a higher education diploma.

Of the total vacancies for Funai, 152 will be vacancies for intermediate-level education candidates for the position of indigenist agent. The others are for higher education, for positions of administrator, geographer, architect, social worker, agronomist and forestry engineer, psychologist, anthropologist, among others.

Representatives of the categories point out that Funai and the Ministry of the Environment were two of the structures that suffered most from the lack of personnel in recent years. It is estimated that Funai’s staff deficit reaches 1,500 staff.

On Friday (28), President Lula participated in the closing ceremony of Camp Terra Livre, an event promoted by indigenous peoples to fight for their rights. On the occasion, the representative announced the first homologations of indigenous lands and said that none would fail to be demarcated.

The president was also charged with a career plan by Funai employees and promised to implement it.

Hours later, in another event, to sanction a 9% readjustment for civil federal civil servants, the representative defended the public service and defended the holding of contests during his administration.

“Sometimes there is a lack of understanding, I don’t know if it’s bad faith or not, but every time we talk about holding a public tender, some people start saying ‘the spending started, the spending started’. People don’t want to understand that in order to To improve any public service, in any country in the world, you have to hire human beings, women and men to do the service that only human beings can do”, said the president.
