Lui Lorenzo, José Loreto’s character in “Vai na fé”, may even be a decadent singer in the plot, but he is a success in real life. Whether when he appears swimming in the pool, to the sound of “Pool Party”, or rehearsing and killing it on stage, he always displays his remarkable style, which is already becoming fashionable. Keeping an eye on the singer’s looks, we “invaded” his wardrobe with the help of Sabrina Moreira, Globo’s costume designer responsible for everything always appearing impeccable on the small screen.

The inspiration of Italian brands such as Versace and Dolce & Gabbana is super present in the singer’s looks. But only as a reference, since the clothes are from the collection or produced by the station’s own team, with fabrics purchased at Saara, a popular market in Rio.

— Lui has two moments. The one at home, where he is by the pool, and the one at the shows. What is common is the “over”, the exaggeration. We traveled in this aesthetic of Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, of Italian fashion. But we did a lot. We also repeat clothes, because that brings truth to the costumes, mixing with new pieces. We go from A to Z, from Renner to Saara. There isn’t a designer outfit in Lui’s wardrobe. They are very expensive parts! (laughter). That’s not the idea, but we have a feeling that it is. It looks like an international brand, but it’s not.

The costumes that the singer and his dancers use in the shows are all produced by the team. With Sabrina, another 23 people work, including assistants and seamstresses. In addition to other professionals who take care of the props and are divided between several productions of the house, in addition to “Vai na fé”. The costume designer points out what can’t be missing from Lui’s wardrobe:

— One of the most interesting things I wanted to put as a trademark of him is his high waist. We are living in a fashion moment in which the low waist is making a comeback, like in the 2000s. The soap opera also has flashbacks to that time. So I did the opposite with Loreto. As he is always with his chest out, he wears an open shirt a lot, we bet on higher pants. In everyday life, his color palette is varied, almost a rainbow. But he has a lot of a touch of red, of passion, of Sidney Magal, of Wando… This kind of mushy thing, king of the ladies — she details, adding: — Lui has a cauldron of references. We look a lot at these popular singers, who move crowds, regardless of the target audience. We went from pop to cheesy. We mixed in a bit of Harry Styles, Bruno Mars and even Elvis Presley.

But as Lui is one of excesses, he has more indispensable details in his outfits:

— The neckline with a lot of accessories. The chest outside with several strings. The idea has always been exaggeration. Of course, we put it in a nice way to see it, in a beautiful way, pleasant to look at. Loreto also brings entertainment to Lui.

Influencer in the novel: Mel Maia talks about ‘Go in faith’, the self-care routine and dating MC Daniel: ‘We were friends. He was conquering me

It is not the first time that Sabrina is behind the clothes that also give something to talk about outside of TV. The costumes of Vivi Guedes (Paolla Oliveira), the influencer who rocked “A Dona do Peco” (2019), had her hands. And if the influencer of Walcyr Carrasco’s soap opera left the small screen for social networks, Lui’s style has been taking over real life. At Carnival, Loreto appeared as the singer in Ivete Sangalo’s trio and even appeared in a box with high-waisted pants that could very well have been worn by Lui (see sidebar). Makeup, another trademark of the fictional singer, was incorporated by the actor, who even received criticism on social networks for the look.

— Loreto takes this plunge (into the character), he’s all for it. We had this conversation in the dressing room. In the first show, in Chapter 1, he was not wearing makeup. We suggest a smoky eye pencil. Lui is not afraid to be happy, to be cheesy, to make mistakes. That’s one thing he and Loreto have in common. The actor doesn’t think about what could go wrong. He is concerned about doing what he thinks is cool — she praises, adding: — We are living in a moment in the world where the standard is being deconstructed, what is right and wrong. Why can’t men apply eyeliner, paint nails? Regardless of gender, a person has to manifest himself as he wants, be happy.
