Livraria Nacional gathers writers to celebrate anniversary in Manaus

Livraria Nacional continues the celebrations of its 48 years of existence and the publishing house Valer is present at the festivities. This Saturday (15), five authors published by the publishing house will be present to discuss their works, at 10:00 am, in the bookshop, located on Rua 24 de Maio, Centro.

Among the guests will be the professor and author of “O drone de Yebá Buró”, Thiago Roney; Bernardo Mesquita, professor, musician and author of the book ‘Das Beiras aos Beiras’; Leyla Leong, journalist, illustrator, author of “The Secret of the Old Woman”, “Cida, the Mischievous Monkey”; “Gavião-Real” among others, the plastic artist, historian Otoni Mesquita, author of “Manaus, history and architecture”, and the most recent “La belle Vitrine”; and Professor Auxiliomar Ugarte, author of “Sertões de Bárbaros”, “Relação of the most famous…” and of an article in “Political trajectories in the Amazon”.

Professor Dr. Neiza Teixeira, editorial coordinator at Valer, highlighted the importance of these literary meetings for Manaus.

“It is common to hear from Valer authors that they lack a space for conversations about their works: a meeting between authors and the public. It is in this sense that a meeting like this is important, in addition to allowing dialogue about knowledge, other authors and what they are thinking in the literary field”. It is important to highlight the importance of Livraria Nacional, which plays a very important role in the dissemination of knowledge and provides access to national and international authors”, he explained.

The event is free and will feature several other participations.

About the National Bookstore

The brothers José Maria Monteiro Mendes, João Batista and Paulo Roberto are responsible for the oldest bookstore in Manaus (AM), Livraria Nacional, which since 1975 has been forming readers in the capital of Amazonas.

The bookstore also has a collection of around 60,000 books, including works that are no longer produced.
