Federal deputy Cláudio Cajado (PP-BA) will be the rapporteur for the new fiscal framework project in the Chamber of Deputies, according to an announcement made earlier this Thursday afternoon (20) by President Arthur Lira (PP-AL).

Cajado will have the task of reporting on the proposal without major changes to the original text forwarded by Finance Minister Fernando Haddad, and with a deadline of May 10, as Lira said last Tuesday (18), when she received the text.

The project will be examined on an urgent basis in the Chamber directly in plenary, without going through the thematic committees. “With the speed that the country requires, I inform you that the rapporteur of the PL that deals with the fiscal framework will be Deputy Cajado, from Progressistas. Here I reaffirm our commitment to the wide debate in the appreciation of the matter”, said Lira in a post on twitter.

The choice of the proposal’s rapporteur, who ended up confirming statements by interlocutors that he would be from the same party as Lira, was supposed to be announced on Wednesday (19). The mayor also stated that he intends to approve the text with at least 308 votes, with the minimum number being 257.

The vote on the new fiscal anchor in the Chamber of Deputies will share attention with the CPMI, which will investigate the acts of January 8, and which should have the application read in a session of Congress next Wednesday (26). The government’s expectation, however, is that the voting agenda for projects considered essential will not be affected by the commission’s work.
