‘Life of a rich man is very easy’, says Marina Sena about changes after sudden success

The singer from Taiobeiras, interior of MG, broke out in 2021 with the hit “Por supuesto”. Success came quickly, and she does not hide the difference from life in São Paulo today: “People who were born rich are lucky, they have to be grateful every day. Because the life of a rich person is very easy. Rich people earn things and sometimes they don’t you have to pay. When I was poor I needed it”, she compares. She told the new album, the origins and current life to the podcast g1 heard. Bluntly, she talks about AutoTune, “haters”, Ozzy Osbourne, pagode, rap, funk and new songs already released and still unpublished. Really good, I wish I had had this my whole life”, she reinforces. But Marina doesn’t go out and spend it all the first time. “I’m a little fearful, because, as I didn’t have money, I had nothing to worry about. What are you going to declare if you don’t have it? Then you don’t even know how to handle money. You don’t even know what to spend it on. I’m afraid of spend wrong.” “I keep asking the people I already know are rich: ‘So, what does the rich spend money on? What do they do, they take his money and what do they do?’ What store does the rich man go to? If he needs to buy a pot, where does the rich man go?”, she describes. “I’m very controlled,” she says. “Buying expensive stuff scares me to death.” Her first luxury purchase was a R$10,000 purse a year ago. “I thought: ‘Help, my mother is going to kill me’. But it lasts until today. It’s here. It’s been a year and not a single line came out. And I said: ‘Oh, money well spent'”. With the first album, Marina said that she wanted to perform for her fans. And now, what’s the point of “Inherent Vice”? “I want to plant my flag in pop, I want to be more successful, hit more.” The album marks more of its rap influence. “Que tal” was created with rapper Fleezus, who also features on the track. “We made this song very drunk”, he says. The second album also reflects the singer’s passion for the Brazilian version of grime, an English variation of rap with electronic music. “What brings me closer to rap is the connection with words. I think you have to play with words.
