Historical and Cultural Heritage Week

The various activities take place between August 17th and 22nd, with free registration available on the Portal da Cultura

Manaus (AM) – Valuing the various types of heritage, material, immaterial and cultural in Amazonas and raising awareness about the preservation of assets are proposals outlined by the Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy when promoting the Week of Historical and Cultural Heritage.

The event features a schedule from August 17th to 22nd with lectures, workshops and mediated visits to cultural spaces in the state. Registration is open at the Portal da Cultura (@cultura.am.gov.br), at the link

The commemorative week begins on the National Historic Heritage Day (08/17), broadening the discussions on the subject. The Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo Muniz, emphasizes the relevance of the event.

“It’s a way of remembering the work of professionals who work in the Department of Historical Heritage of the Secretariat of Culture. It is the opportunity to share experiences, encourage new projects in the process of preserving, restoring and conserving the state’s heritage”,

highlights the secretary.

“Amazonas is a culturally rich state, with centenary spaces that represent our identity and are a source of pride for the population that recognizes its importance and sees itself in these places”,

adds Marcos Apolo.

For the manager of Intangible Heritage of the Department of Historical Heritage (DPH) of the Culture portfolio, Luiza Guglielmini, the week concentrates a series of opportunities and consolidates actions. “We will have the resumption of the State Historical Heritage Council, which was deactivated for 10 years and, now, we already have meetings and some advances in relation to tipping, the issue of records involving intangible heritage”,

mentions Luiza.

The director highlights, as part of the program, the workshops, lectures with the technical staff of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (Iphan), addressing federal laws involving cultural heritage, in addition to conversation circles with restoration professionals, with engineering and architecture among other activities.

It will take place in the auditorium of the Centro Cultural Palacete Provincial, Praça Heliodoro Balbi, Centro, starting at 8:30 am, on Thursday (17/08). The program continues with lectures at 10 am and 11 am: “Performance and Federal Laws of Iphan”, given by the architect of the institute in Amazonas, Rafael Azevedo, and “Performance of the Council and State Laws of Copham”, by the legal advisor of the council, Sergio Cruz. Also on Thursday, at 6:30 pm, at the headquarters of Iphan do Amazonas, located at 13, Vivaldo Lima, in the Center, the lecture “Heritage in Network” will take place, to be given by the institute’s technical staff.
