Manaus (AM) – Next Saturday (25), Manaus City Hall ends the series of visits under the “Vivendo o Nosso Centro” project, with the last heritage education tour coordinated by the Municipal Institute of Urban Planning (Implurb). From 8 am to 11 am, a group of 50 people will visit the historic center, visiting buildings, streets and heritage spaces in the central area of the city, taking a new look at the “ Nosso Centro ” program, launched by Mayor David Almeida.
“On Saturday we will have the last edition of the year and places are limited so that we can better develop the project and pay attention, so as not to waste time with a large group. Anyone who has registered and is unable to go should let us know through the channels to free up the vacancy so that it can be filled by more people interested in the visit”,
explained the institute’s Planning Director, architect and urban planner Pedro Paulo Cordeiro.
Participation is free, subject to prior registration via the form. The tour always takes place on Saturdays and started in August, now completing eight guided tours.
The tour is coordinated by Implurb, with support from the Municipal Foundation for Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult) and the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) of Amazonas, the Municipal Secretariat of Labor, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Semtepi), and of the Technical Committee for Implementation and Revitalization of the Historic Center of Manaus.
The meeting point takes place at Dom Pedro II square. The Planning director participates in the guided tour, showing the importance of the program, the interventions being carried out and the axes of the work, with a focus on attracting more life, more business and more history to the territory.
“One of these axes fits exactly with visits. It is necessary to know the Center, the history, what happened here in this area and the interventions that are being carried out to, of course, experience the space, have this belonging. That’s why the name of the program ‘Our Center’, because it is a collective construction, belongs to everyone”,
said Cordeiro.
The circuit passes through construction sites, but first, it starts at Dom Pedro II square, heading to the Manaus City Museum (Muma), at Paço da Liberdade, and Bernardo Ramos street. The group goes through the first interventions of “ Nosso Centro ” and ends the visit with a trip to Palácio Rio Branco and the headquarters of Iphan-AM, located at numbers 13 to 17 of Travessa Dr. Vivaldo Lima, in the port area of the capital.
At all points, historical and architectural contextualization is provided with an emphasis on styles and typologies and, in the case of interventions underway by the city hall, the emphasis will be on the type of construction and adaptation to the new use.
Hours
Participation guarantees additional hours for higher education students and public servants. To be entitled to a declaration of participation, which can guarantee additional hours depending on the higher education course, interested parties must register in advance and sign the attendance list in the itinerary.
At the end of each visit, within 10 working days, participants will receive a digital certificate for complementary extracurricular activity, which will be sent to the email provided during pre-registration.
Construction
The City Hall is currently carrying out three urban development projects in the Center: Lúcia Almeida viewpoint, Thiago de Mello mansion and São Vicente square.
