The 62-year-old artist, named Nathaniel Glover, rose to fame in the 1980s as one of the original members of the hip hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Glover was on his way to work when he passed the victim, John Jolly, on the street and stabbed him twice in the trunk. The victim was taken to the hospital, but did not survive. According to the rapper’s statement to the police after he was identified and arrested, Glover was nervous because he thought Jolly was hitting on him. “I wish I had never seen him. It’s all my fault. I chose to stab him. I have to accept responsibility for that,” he said in his statement at the time of the crime.
