Justice allows sale of Cannabis flower – 04/11/2023 – Cannabis Inc.

For the first time in Brazil, an association of patients obtains, in court, permission to sell flowers of cannabis. It is Salva, from Sergipe, which was officially set up a year and a half ago to assist people with medical indications to be treated with CBD oil (cannabidiol, a substance from cannabis no psychoactive effect). The NGO has 200 associates and until the end of March it operated without authorization from the Justice.
Salvador planted, produced the oil and sold the products in breach of the law, running the risk of being criminally punished. Currently, only nine associations are authorized by the Justice to carry out this work in Brazil. The Sergipe NGO decided to be the tenth, but made a broader request to Judge Ronnivon de Aragão, which made this action unprecedented.
“The procedural strategy was to tell the truth, as we were already selling flowers to patients, who preferred other forms of administering the cannabis than the oral one”, says the lawyer and vice-president of the Save, Paulo Thiessen. They are very used in the inhalation, a way that has faster action than the oil.
Ronnivon authorized the cultivation, handling, preparation, production, storage, transportation, dispensing and research of cannabis exclusively for medicinal purposes. “We can market all forms of products such as ointments, sprays, flowers and oils. But we will have to make a series of adaptations determined by the Justice”, says Thiessen. He warns that Salvador will soon close a partnership with the Federal University of Sergipe for research and improvement of the product marketed by the association.
