Östlund received the top prize at Cannes in 2022 for “Triangle of Sadness” and Ducournau was the winner in 2021 for “Titane”. The other members of the jury are Moroccan filmmaker Maryam Touzani, French actor Denis Ménochet, Anglo-Zambian director Rungano Nyoni, American actor Paul Dano and Afghan writer and filmmaker Atiq Rahimi. The jury will decide the winner of the Palme d’Or 2023 among the 21 films in the competitive selection, which include “Asteroid City”, by Wes Anderson, “Anatomie d’une chute”, by Justine Triet, and “Monster”, by Hirokazu Kore -eda. To form this jury, the organizers of Cannes said in a statement that they wanted to “welcome the arrival of a generation of artists who produce, play, sing and write”.
