JBS reopens on Monday (6) a lamb processing plant in the state of Victoria, Australia. The opening, in the city of Cobram, is part of a US$ 20 million investment to modernize the facilities and expand capacity in the country.
According to JBS, its operations in Australia account for about 4% of the company’s global net revenue, with positive signs that indicate increased demand and margin growth.
The reopening aims to increase access capacity not only to the consumer market in Oceania, but to the entire region in the Asian market, says the company.
The initiative also comes months after competitor Minerva announced, in October 2022, the acquisition of sheep processor Australian Lamb Company, in a joint venture with an investment of US$ 260 million, of which US$ 169 million by Minerva and US$ 91 million by Salic, also in Victoria, where Australian Lamb has two cold-storage units with around 93% of sales dedicated to export.
